- Strawberry
appeared over 2,200 years ago .If you want to learn more, welcome
to our strawberry patch.
Strawberry prefers
a temperate climate and can grow in a wide range of soils. However,
growing in winter is the best time. Strawberry is 2-5cm long,
soft, red and plump. It consists of a cluster of small fruits
around the fruit stem; each single fruit having a seed surrounded
by red flesh. Its green stem and green star-like calyx are left
on when it's harvested.
Both of Westerner
and Easterner love this fruit .Besides low calorie, it is also
a great source of various nutrients.
The small seeds
embedded in its skin provide a good source of dietary fibre which
our body need at least 20-35 g. per day. This fibre can lowering
the cholesterol level in our blood vessel. It also helps to prevent
the risk of heart disease and cancer
Strawberry is an
excellent source of vitamin C . It helps to prevent the
anti-oxidant which is the cause of various cancers such
as lung cancer. |

This fruity heart-shaped
also supply some folate, one of the B complex vitamins which is
very useful to the pregnant woman . Folate can lower the risk of
fetus's brain trouble .So the future mum should have it at least
8 fruits per day. It also prevents homocysteine and amino acid which
are causes of thrombosis
Potassium
is involved in the function of nerves and control of muscles. Eating
raw strawberry can support these systems to work better.
It 's not hard to taste a strawberry .You can have both of raw and
cooked such as fruit salads, fruit punch, cheese and fruit platters,
ice creams, tarts, cakes, sauces, crepes, waffles or served over
breakfast cereal, stewed fruits or made into jam.
