The history
of sanitary napkin |
|
Do you know that sanitary napkin has just been
produced for not long time? Do you know the feeling of women who live
without it? Yes, it's absolutely not good feeling. So, you can say that
you're luckier than the women in the past. In World War I, a lack of cotton
expanded around Europe. So, in 1916, Kimberly Clark, an American, owner
of paper manufaturing company, had researched and developed new absorbent
matterial called “Cellu-cotton” used as filter of gas mask and bandage.
Moreover, nurses had used this product to absorb menses, too. Kimberly
Clark found an opportunity. So, on 21 September 1920, the first sanitary
napkin made of cellu-cotton and gauze called “Kotex” was born but not
success at first because of social restriction. 5 years later, the situation
became better when Montgomery Ward, postal goods delivery company, decided
to present Kotex for sell in the catalog. After that, sanitary napkin
become part of women daily life until now. |
