Although become a great ingredient in many luxurious menus in this day, jellyfish is still a dangerous sea creature. More than two thousands species are found and less than one thousand are hazadous to human and animals. The Box jelly is known as the most harmful species.

Jellyfish is not a fish like its name. It is an invertebrate relative to corals. It has no bone, no brain, no head, no heart, neither eyes nor ears but it is a fast, active predator that can hunt and kill with incredible speed and brutality. It works by exploding the tiny poisonous stinging cells from a net of tentacles into victim.

The symptoms when you are stung

-severe pain

-headache, nauseam, vomiting, diarrhoea

-skin swelling/wounds/redness

-difficulty breathing, swallowing and talking

-shivering and sweating

-irregular pulse/heart failure

First aid

-wash the wound with vinegar. It would be better to use towel than hands to lift off jellyfish's tentacles.

-apply wound with hot or cool bag if you feel sore. For Thai natives, they mix Caprae sweet and lime water to apply the wound.

-take the victim to the hospital if he/she has difficulty in breathing with even cardiac arrest

-do not drink alcohol or take any medicine or food. You may vomit and this is very hazard to your life.
